A Deightfully Bookish Day

A wonderful new bookstore opened in my wonderful small city over the weekend: Joseph-Beth Booksellers. This store is the seventh store in the small chain of independent bookstores. My husband and I really liked it. It didn't have the huge selection of a Borders or Barnes & Noble, but the store had a real charm. It's in a neat part of Fredericksburg with a bunch of new shops:

The store is bright and airy and has a really well-planned layout. When you walk in, there's Bronte Bistro right at the front of the store. We are hoping we get a chance to check it out when finances allow, because the menu looks to die for!

Of course I went straight to the YA section, which was rather small, but had a good selection.

I really like that the store has a Gives Back program, which is $25 a year. If you participate, a portion of your purchase will go to a local charity, one of them is the Fredeicksburg SPCA, where we got our new cat Sadie!

Here's what I got at Joseph-Beth (well, I had to go to Borders to get White Cat, Joseph-Beth had it in, but not unpacked yet). I got these books with a bit of my own money, but mostly thanks to a Visa gift card from one of my best friends.

White Cat (Curse Workers, Book 1)
The Agency 1: A Spy in the House
The Awakening (Darkest Powers)

When we got home, a bounty had arrived in the mail, as I received the rest of my birthday purchases!

You Are So Undead to Me (Megan Berry, Book 1)
The Luxe
Happy Hour of the Damned

Lastly, I received a book for review:
The Pack by LM Preston

I'm happy to announce that LM Preston will be stopping by next week to write a guest post.

I love getting so many books at once!

  2. Great new reads! And cute bookstore! I recently discovered "Half Priced Books" which is a huge used book store by my school but most books look brand new! And everything is literally half off lol.

  3. Books are pretty much the only thing I pay full price for. Half off for new looking books is even better!

  4. Of course I see Twilight in the YA section picture! ;P

  5. Ooooh, a bookstore! Sometimes I prefer the ones with a smaller selection--that way I don't feel constantly overwhelmed as I dash from shelf to shelf screaming "I don't know what to BUY!" :) Although I'm sure I'd do that in a smaller bookstore as well.
