The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead
I guess one could say this book isn't strictly non-fiction, since zombies are a fictional creation. That said, if you're planning on writing a book involving any manner of zombie, you must read this book. I digress. This book is made to look like a military field guide, and although it's billed as a humor book, it's really not. A zombie apocalypse is nothing to laugh about, people!
You'll learn how to fend off the walking undead, the best places to seek shelter, items you'll need in order to survive, etc. It's all quite useful advice, and some of it is practical. It's probably not a bad idea to have a store of food and water on hand to last for a few days in case of natural disaster.
100 Questions Every First-Time Home Buyer Should Ask: With Answers from Top Brokers from Around the CountryAs most of you know, we recently purchased a home. This book was absolutely invaluable to us. If I had a question I thought might be a bit daft to ask our Realtor, I would consult this book first. I only wish my husband would have read it as well!
I'd suggest buying this book a few months before you're going to start your search. I got it for Christmas and we started home searching in January, so I wish I'd given myself a few more weeks to read before we jumped in!
The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl
I adore The Pioneer Woman. How Ree has time to update all the blogs on her site, raise four children and live and work on a ranch is beyond me. She blogs with humor and grace that makes her instantly likable. Trust me, if you've never heard of her, odds are you'll spend a good hour or so poking around her site. I wasted a good four hours poking into every crevice.
I consider myself a novice cook, at this cookbook has several recipes that are up my alley. They're not all easy, don't get me wrong, but a lot of them will be easier for the novice cook to master. This cookbook is also delightful to look at. All color photos, bright colors and funny anecdotes from Ree. If you buy one cookbook-make it this one!
Do any of you enjoy reading non-fiction books? If so, have you read anything good lately?

I <3 the Pioneer Woman. I had no idea she had a cookbook. Good for her!
ReplyDeleteHer cookbook came out last fall, I believe. You'll get hungry just looking at it!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading a lot about myths and herbs/ crystals for my book so I can involve some ancient elements into it.
