This & That on a Tuesday-The Tara Edition

On my BEA/Book Blogger Convention post last week I mentioned that it's a good idea to share at least some information about yourself on your blog for your readers to get an idea of who you are. It gives me some perspective when I'm reading blogs, and it's no coincidence that my favorite blogs are those where I know something about the bloggers. So, I thought I'd share some random facts about myself.

-My husband and I (his name is Jeremy) have been married a little less than nine months. We were married one year and six days after we got engaged, and we got engaged six months after our first date. We were actually engaged longer than we dated! We had a board game themed wedding, since we bonded over a love of board games.

I used Scrabble tiles for my Escort cards. I had custom dice made with our wedding date.

-My father was in the Army, and was stationed in Tehran, Iran when my mom was five months pregnant with me, so that's where I was born. This has made international travel a bit of pain for me at certain airports, where I've had my luggage gone through quite thoroughly. I don't remember Iran, we left before the hostage crisis, so I was still pretty small.
-My husband is a veteran of the US Army, my father-in-law, both of my grandfathers, and several uncles served in the Army as well. The only Army hold-out is my youngest brother-in-law, who is currently serving in the Navy.
-I can't live without my iphone. This photo from our wedding was our Christmas card last year!
-I'm from Maryland, but I have also lived in Utah and Massachusetts before I moved to Virginia in 2007.
-We have three cats, Sadie, Quincy & Charlie. We are hoping to get a dog within the next six months to a year. Our favorite breeds are Boston Terriers & Pugs.

Now that I've shared some facts about myself, if you want to share: What's one random fact about you?

  1. Hmm...random fact...I'm a teacher for the 7th Grade girls Sunday School class at my church. Crazy-scandalous, I know, but true. ^_^ Glad to learn more about you! Very cool wedding idea too!

  2. 7th grade girls what a great age! Do you give them book recommendations?

  3. Lol, not to date, seeing as the stuff I've read lately is a little old for them yet. Plus, the only stories I hear about in class are their own, usually about softball injuries or annoying siblings. :oP

About me: I read more then I should!

  5. It sounds like you had a really fun wedding. My husband and I were also engaged for longer then we dated, as I was waiting for the school year to finish before we got married (I was in college at the time)
