The other day I was thinking about where I get my books. I receive books from many sources. Galleys from publishers, e-books, books I've purchased, and from the library. I looked over my Goodreads history for the last few months and this is what I've come up with:
Library: Twelve books
ARCs: Thirty books
E-books (not ARCs): Five books
Purchased: Fifteen books
Finished copy received from publisher: Five books
So, obviously I've been reading a lot of ARCs lately! Since I'm not reviewing as many books on the blog as I once was, I'm making an effort to accept/request less ARCs. I need to work at my physical TBR pile so I have more room to buy more books! I don't feel guilty about reading so many books from the library as I'm helping to support both my local branch & the Philadelphia Free Library where I get my e-books, but I really need to even out the books purchased vs. ARCs.
As an aspiring author, I can't help but think I'd be glad if people were reading my book, but I'd be happy if they paid for it, so I need to make an effort to buy more books, especially from debut authors. I tend not to buy a lot of e-books for my Nook unless they're free or discounted, but that might change.
What's your book breakdown?

Let's see...
ReplyDeleteLibrary: 14
Bought/Own: 20
ARCs: 1
E-books: 2
Books Received from Author/Publisher: 6
Not bad for a first year.
That's a good breakdown! :)
ReplyDeleteFor this year, the books I read or are currently in my tbr pile ...
ReplyDeleteBought / Owned : 13
Won : 4
For review : 2
Borrowed : 2
I don't have exact numbers, so I hope percentages work. My breakdown would be
ReplyDeleteBooks already owned: 40%
Books bought: 40%
Books from the library: 10%
Books won from giveaways: 10%
