In My Mailbox is a weekly event held by The Story Siren. Here's what I've received over the last few weeks!

And on a personal note, we brought home our two new kitties, Mia & Isabel! We recently lost our little girl, Sadie, and our home felt so empty. We decided to adopt two cats, which brings our total to four-and that will be our final total, as our home is not that big!

Isabel came with her name, but Mia (originally named Melody) is named after Gayle Forman's Mia from the If I Stay series. It's my favorite book in recent memory, and the first time I've named a cat after a character from a book.

Here's Isabel. She is a little meatball. Her previous owners overfed her, and she has lost weight, but she has a lot of excess skin. She is eight years old. We really wanted to adopt a senior animal, since our other cats Charlie & Quincy are seniors, and senior animals tend to stay at the shelters for a really long time, or they are put to sleep.

Here is a professional shot of Mia. We adopted the girls from The Fredericksburg SPCA, a local no-kill shelter. A local pet photographer volunteers their services to photograph the animals for their adoption ads.
